Fall 2009

Since graduating from Brown University with an honors degree in geology-biology in 2007 I have worked a variety of environment-related jobs: as an eco-tour guide at a resort in northern Vermont where I led bike, kayak and bird-watching excursions; as a research assistant in a climate science lab at the University of Edinburgh School of Geosciences; as a Wilderness Defender Coordinator for The Wilderness Society in Sydney, Australia; and as a bird surveyor for a renowned wetlands ecologist at Duke University's Nicholas School for the Environment.  In the next couple months I will be applying to masters programs in environmental management at Duke, Yale, Edinburgh and Oxford for enrollment in the fall of 2010.  It has been a long time goal of mine to visit South America before I go back to school or get a 'serious' career-oriented job and this internship appears to be the perfect opportunity for me to do just that.

I have always been a champion of the environment and plan to be for the rest of my life.  I am an avid bird watcher with a life list of more than 800 species and am working on a bird guide for the
Vermont resort where I worked.  He aprendido espanol por ocho anos de estudio y viajes a Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, Nicaragua y Panama.  On January 2010, Scott will travel to Ecuador to participate on a six month internship at La Hesperia Biological Reserve. He will assist the reserve's director with management of the reserve, coordinate the volunteer program, and participate in grant writing.
